Mountain View Raceway

              General rules and class rules are now posted on our website. A lot of research, phone calls and meetings have been held with Racers, Chassis Builders, Engine Builders and other track owners to create these rules. Our motive behind these rules is to make them fair, affordable and efficient. TECH will be a big part of each race night. If you have any questions please contact us.

              We will run a total of 8 classes.  The 8 classes will consist of Late Models, Street Stock, Open Wheel Modifieds, FWD, Sportsman, B Sportsman and Mod Mini/4 Cylinder, Jr FWD. We will also consider adding special classes once a month.

                The effort that the Hampton family has put into rebuilding the facility has been nothing short of amazing. Having a set of owners that want to see racing around this area strive is a positive for all of us involved.

RULE BOOK DISCLAIMER

The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator or official.

The race director shall be empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his/her opinion does not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS.  Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final.

        GENERAL TRACK RULES

  1. It is mandatory for all persons entering a restricted area of the track to read and execute all pertinent waivers and releases.

  2. These rules and/or regulations set forth do not express or imply warranty of safety.

  3. The pit area has a 5 mph maximum speed limit and will be strictly enforced at all times, 4 wheelers and cars alike.

  4. All person(s) under the age of 14 will be allowed in the pits, but recommended to go to grandstands. All parents will be responsible for their kids actions at all times, safety always comes first and needs to be understood how dangerous the pits can be.

  5. Firearms are prohibited on the track property, except for working security and law enforcement.

  6. No alcoholic beverages or controlled substances will be allowed on property. Offenders will be asked to leave immediately, no questions asked. Any driver caught being intoxicated while racing will be suspended for life.

  7. Any driver exiting a race vehicle on the racetrack unless directed to do so by the track official or in the response to an emergency is subject to disqualification and lose all money's for the event. ROUGH DRIVING, FIGHTING and/or RETALIATION with your vehicle will not be tolerated.

  8. Rough Driving and Retaliation: 1st: DQ  2nd: DQ & 2 races suspension.  3rd: DQ and suspended for 12 months.

  9. All drivers are responsible for the conduct of their crew members and their associates. If any crew member is involved in an altercation of any kind, the driver and team is subject to the same penalties. Keep control of your crew members.

  10. Cars are subject to inspection by officials at any time. All classes are subject to random P&G testing.

  11. Injuries incurred at the track must be reported to the office prior to leaving the track premises. Failure to do so will result in denial of an insurance claim.

  12.  Sign-in: Sign-in cut-off is at 6 PM or 15 Minutes before driver's meeting. Any driver signing in after the cut-off time will forfeit their fastest Qualifying lap time. All Drivers must sign themselves in. No crew or 3rd party person will be allowed to sign in for a driver. The car must be inspected before allowed on the track. Cars will need to be brought to the scale house after signing in at the beginning of the night. No car will be allowed on the track without the approved inspection sticker.All drivers must be ready to compete in their scheduled event. 

  13. The track reserves the right to invert qualifiers and/ or add weight for competition purposes.

  14.  Any driver winning 2 features in a row will start no better than 3rd position, 3 feature wins in a row start no better than 6th position and the car will be inspected.  4 feature wins in a row start LAST in the driver’s next attempted feature event. (This is for Races attended) After 4 wins in a row, the track will impound the car and do a complete tear-down. This does not include point races.

  15. All events are scored in relation to the lead car. Scoring protests must be registered within 5 minutes of will be the decision of the track and which classes to be utilized in.

  16. Cars not responding to the BLACK FLAG and are not getting in their directed position will not be scored or paid.

  17. Race will be official if the time limit expires or laps completed. Laps may be cut due to time limit.

  18. NO RADIOS are permitted.

  19. RACECEIVERS ARE MANDATORY (Frequency 454.000) ANYTIME YOU ARE ON THE RACE TRACK. If you do not have a raceceiver or it does not work, you will be black flagged; no raceceiver no race.

  20. Any car causing 2 caution flags in the heat race or feature will be done for that race,

  21. CALLS: If the leader is spun, car that caused the contact will go to the rear.

  22. If there is a spin or a wreck, the cars that the yellow flag was called for will go to the REAR. If it is deemed that another car hit and caused the spin, that car shall go to the rear.

  23. Intentional Wrecking: Any driver intentionally running into another car will be BLACK FLAGGED and DISQUALIFIED from the event and will be subject to disciplinary action, and will forfeit all moneys earned that night.

  24. Rough Driving: Rough driving will not be tolerated. The general rule is car causing the caution will be moved to the rear of the field as directed by the race director or track official. If there are cars that are more than 1 lap down, the cars involved may be moved to the rear also. Non-incidental contact between drivers due to one car driving wreckless and/or out of control will be subject to a black flag. Drivers need to be courteous, when your car is not handling right or damaged to the point where it is unsafe to drive then please pull off the track, don’t risk damaging other cars.

  25. Three courtesy laps will be given for a flat tire under caution. There will be a hot pit area for changing tires and/or fixing damage. Track will use common sense during this period. If driver goes to their pit area under caution, driver is finished for the competition.

  26. Fuel in all classes will be GAS only: E-85 OK: No Nitrous allowed. Open Wheel Modified ONLY are allowed to run alcohol.

  27. A driver may only compete in 1 race event per event unless otherwise approved by the race director.

  28. Any driver deemed illegal for the heat race can start on the rear of the feature after making the correct changes and passed the inspection by tech.

  29. Driver changes during a night’s event must be approved by the race director and before said event. If driver change happens after the heats or qualifying then car must start in rear.

  30. A driver cannot change cars after the start of an event unless approved by the race director.

  31. Weekly Points will be paid to the Driver. Track will audit and post points during the race season.

  32. Money from the night’s event will be paid to the person of record on file at the track office. All required forms must be executed before money will be released. Driver only will be allowed to collect monies for the night. Transponders must be returned before monies will be released.

  33. Personal vehicles: Other than those towing a racecar, track workers, and safety personnel, will not be allowed in the pit area.

  34. ATV’s are allowed in the pit area. All ATV’s must adhere to all pit speed limits (5 mph) and safety regulations set forth by Mountain View Raceway. Anyone operating an ATV outside these guidelines will forfeit their ATV privileges and said ATV will be removed from the property for the night.

  35. Drivers competing in crate or steelhead late model classes will not be allowed to compete in a lower class unless approved by the race director.

  36. Top 3 in heats and features will be weighed and tires punched. All cars will be checked after qualifying, all weights posted will be final and no burn-off allowed.

  37. No mirrors allowed in ANY class.

  38. Car Numbers. All car numbers must be legible on both sides. If car numbers can't be seen by tower officials, the car will not be allowed on the track until the issue is fixed.

  39. Signaling sticks with lights are allowed; except Red, Yellow or Green colors. All other colors allowed. Sticks are not allowed to flash off and on. Sticks must not exceed thirty inches (30") in length and a maximum of two inches (2") in diameter

  40. Weekly events will allow drivers to compete in multiple divisions nightly, but no more than two divisions on the same night. In order to do so you must purchase two arm bands and two trandsponders. one for each division. Each car must be equipped with its own transponder which is available at the scale house upon sign in. Each car in each division must meet all tech requirements and cannot be the same car in both divisions; you must have two different cars. The track has the right at any time to alter this rule for competition purposes

PENALTIES:

  1. Rough Driving: 1st offense- disqualified for the night; 2nd offense- disqualified for the night and 2-week suspension; 3rd offense- disqualified for 12 calendar months. If a driver uses their racecar to ram or hit another competitor’s car, the driver will be disqualified and escorted off the property immediately. Suspension will be at the discretion of the track. DRIVERS: THIS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

  2. Fighting: aggressor will be escorted from the raceway and disqualified for the remainder of the night. Any driver/ crew member entering another competitor’s pits will be deemed the aggressor. If fight happens outside both competitors’ pits, both parties will be deemed the aggressor and will be suspended for a minimum of 2 weeks or up to 6 weeks; 2nd offense- suspended for 12 calendar months and up to a lifetime suspension. Any competitor/ crew member using a WEAPON OF ANY TYPE, RACHET, TIREBAR, ETC. will be suspended and permanently banned from the property for life.

  3. Any person using abusive language or physically abusing any track official or safety personnel will not be tolerated. 1st: DQ  2nd: Dq & Suspended for 2 races. 3rd: Dq and suspended for 12 months. This goes for all crew members as well Each driver is responsible for themselves as well as crew members. If there is a problem with another competitor and/or an official, please notify the race director. All racers will respect each other and their property, no cussing around kids or physical altercations will be accepted in any form or fashion. You will be asked to leave the premises immediately.

  4. Mountain View Raceway Reserves the right to increase or decrease penalties based on the severity of any incident.

Staging Area

1. Staging area is for race cars only. NO Exceptions. Anything that a driver needs from crew members must be done in the pit area or in pre-staging. Any crew member that comes into staging, their driver will receive a DQ. The restricted staging area is marked clearly.

Conclusion:

Many Calls made by officials during a race event are judgement calls and are made based on information at hand during the event. Judgment calls may not be appealed and are not subject to review or change after a race event. Any driver or crew member who comes to the press box during a race to dispute a call will be disqualified from that night’s event. Please wait until after the event, we will be glad to discuss the issue calmly manner.

PROTEST:

ONLY TOP 3 finishers in feature event will be allowed to protest.

3rd place may only protest 2nd

2nd may protest 1st and counter protest 3rd

1st may counter protest 2nd

Track has the right to protest any car at any time.

The driver must lodge protest immediately after coming off the track, no later than 5 minutes.. Money must be paid at that time. Once driver leaves scales, results are final.

Driver must have exact money and state exact protest. At that time driver being protested has 5 minutes to counter protest and decide whether they accept or deny protest. If they refuse protest, driver will be deemed illegal for the event and lose all monies and points for that event.

If found illegal or refuse teardown, 1st offense-lose monies and points for the night; 2nd offense- lose monies and points for the night as well as a 2 race suspension; 3rd offense- lose monies and points for the night as well as a 6 race suspension.

During protest/teardown, all technical specifications will be inspected and enforced.

1 person from each team involved will be allowed in tech area only, unless granted permission by race director or tech inspector only.

Tear down will take place the night of the event. Exception is crate motors. All monies will be held until teardown is complete.

Any other engine will be teched at track.

Track reserves the right on any tear down to take engine to a different engine builder to inspect engine further. Mountain View Raceway wants to be fair to all competitors and if a discrepancy is found and not 100% clear, a second opinion may be in order to make the correct ruling.

SHOCK BUY RULE: Only cars finishing under the checkered flag on the lead lap is eligible to claim a shock per night. Only one claim per night per driver in sportsman class only. Only one shock per night per car is eligible for sale nightly. Claim must be made as cars cross the scales after the feature race only and must be claimed by driver at the time. Once claiming car weighs in at the scales, driver will be notified by Tech Man and car will be held in impound area, the claimed driver has 5 minutes to decide to sale or not, or make a counter claim. Shock claim is $200 and includes Shock only; no spring adjuster ring, cone or other add-ons. Claimed shock will be removed by claimed team under the inspection of the Tech Man on the night of the claim. If claimed driver refuses to sell, 1st offense driver is disqualified-lose monies and points for the night; 2nd offense driver is disqualified-lose monies and point for the night as well as a 2 race suspension; 3rd offense driver is disqualified-lose monies and points for the night as well as a 6 week suspension.

SAFETY RULES:

ALL CARS MUST PASS SAFETY INSPECTION BEFORE ENTERING THE RACE TRACK

All competitors will be required to bring their cars to tech area to be inspected for safety and legality of rules after signing in for their respected classes before the start of the event. You must have an approved sticker with weight being claimed, showing car is legal for that class or car will not be allowed on track. Car must be 100% legal for that class or car will be asked to move up to the next class. If person is unsure of legality, please call before you haul you must be 100% legal on SAFETY. NO EXCEPTIONS.

  1. Drivers in the Late Model and Open Wheel classes must have complete drivers racing fire suit, gloves and shoes and must be worn at all times while on track or in car. Drivers in all other classes, a full racing and fire suit is highly recommended, but Jacket and Gloves are mandatory.

  2. Helmets must meet all ANSI specifications, no cracks and must be full face type with face shield.

  3. No less than 4-point safety harness (5-point recommended). Belts must have manufacturer tags and must be in date by 3 years. Any belts with no date tags will be deemed illegal. OLDER BELTS MUST BE INSPECTED AND APPROVED BY TRACK FOR SAFETY.

  4. No bars outside of car. No screws or body bolts pointed to the outside, or sharp objects outside of car. If car is found to be blatantly trying to cut tires down, car will be disqualified for the event.

  5. Factory aluminum racing seats only, no plastic or fiberglass. Full containment seats and Hans device are highly recommended (some divisions this is mandatory)

  6. All ballast weight will be inspected, must be bolted in with no less than 2 - ½ in. bolts or weight clamps. Must be painted white with car number on it. Any driver losing a piece of lead because of not being properly secure will be disqualified from the event. All lead must be bolted below the decking of the car and no lead allowed inside the cockpit, NO EXCEPTIONS.

  7. All cars must have no less than 3 window bars in front of driver's compartment.

  8. All thunder and modified street cars must have 1 drive shaft loop mandatory, having 2 is loops is preferred.

  9. Window nets are optional but recommended, sprint car type v-style allowed.

  10. Battery must be in a certified battery box with cover and securely bolted or welded.

  11. All cars must have a working fire extinguisher.

ALL CARS WILL BE INSPECTED BEFORE GOING ONTO TRACK, ANY CAR DEEMED UNSAFE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON TRACK, DECISION OF TRACK OFFICIALS WILL BE FINAL, NO EXCEPTIONS.

TRANSPONDERS:

IT WILL BE THE DRIVERS RESPONSIBILITY TO RENT A TRANSPONDER FOR THE EVENT. THERE WILL BE A RENTAL FEE FOR THE EVENT. POUCHES WILL BE SOLD AT TRACK FOR $15.00. TRANSPONDERS WILL BE MOUNTED ON THE RIGHT REAR AXLE TUBE FACING TOWARD THE REAR OF THE CAR WITH PLASTIC TIES. A DRIVERS LICENSE WILL BE REQUIRED TO RENT A TRANSPONDER AND WILL BE HELD UNTIL TRANSPONDER IS RETURNED. THE TRANSPONDER FOR THAT DRIVER WILL BE RETURNED BEFORE CAR/ DRIVER WILL RECEIVE ANY PAY. IF TRANSPONDER IS NOT RETURNED, CAR AND DRIVER WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RETURN UNTIL SITUATION IS RESOLVED, NO EXCEPTIONS.
