SPRING CITY, TN – The following are some competitor notes for the Sam Williams Memorial Race this Saturday night at Mountain View Raceway. Track officials have made some adjustments to accommodate this $3,000-to-win Special Event for the Sportsman Division.
It will be a Non-Points Paying event for both the Sportsman and Late Model Divisions.
Regular Weekly Points will be awarded to the Open-Wheel Modified, B-Hobby, Thunder, and Front-Wheel-Drive Divisions.
Drivers can compete in only one (1) Division.
The B-Sportsman Division has the night off, but B-Sportsman competitors may compete this Saturday night in the Sportsman or Late Model Divisions without losing their Beginner Status for this Special Event.
The Front-Wheel-Drive Jr. Division will have the night off. This is because the Sportsman Division will compete in three extra events, and the track needs to try and exercise better time management and not have our customers at the track at 2 o’clock in the morning. Mountain View Raceway has been innovative in letting the kids race, so please work with us in our scheduling of their events. The Front-Wheel-Drive Jr. Division will return on July 10.
Sam Williams Memorial 40 Race Information: The race will pay $3,096-to-win and $100-to-start, will run 40 laps and will start up to 20 cars. The first ten (10) starting spots will be determined through two-lap Time Trial runs. Starting positions 11 through 18 will be determined through two ten (10)-lap B-Main Races. There will be a ten (10)-lap Non-Qualifiers Race paying $500-to-win and $300 for second-place. The top two drivers can take that money and be done for the night, or they can forfeit the money and start in the back of the Sam Williams Memorial 40-lap Race in the 19th and 20th starting spot.
Sam Williams Memorial 40 Technical Information: Each Sportsman car will be allowed five (5) tires for the event. Four (4) of the tires must be on the race car with one (1) spare when it is presented for Pre-Race Technical Inspection. Each tire will be marked. Use of the spare must be approved by track officials prior to the Main Event, and can only be used on the Right-Rear. The spare may also be used on the Right-Rear Only if a competitor transfers to the Main Event from the B-Main Races and/or Non-Qualifiers Race. The use of any additional tires more than the five allowed must be approved by the Track Technical Director.
Sam Williams Memorial 40 Contingency Awards: $100 Fast Time Award from PPM Race Products - $50 Longest Tow Award from Motorsports Promotions – Hoosier Racing Tire and American Racer Tires will also be awarded for Contingencies to be announced.
