SPRING CITY, TN – Mountain View Raceway will be a busy place for both fans and competitors this Saturday night with a Regular Weekly Show for eight Divisions, and something new on the Grandstand side of the track. Three Late Model drivers will be bringing their race cars in the Victory Lane Fan Zone for a special Meet and Greet Session prior to Intermission.
The Late Model, Sportsman, 4-Cylinder, Thunder, Front-Wheel-Drive, Junior Front-Wheel-Drive, and Developmental Sportsman Divisions will compete in Regular Weekly Point races. The Open-Wheel Modifieds will run a Non-Points Race.
Right after Late Model Qualifying, the defending and three-time Mountain View Raceway Late Model Champion Barry Goodman of Spring City, TN, Young Gun Kelby Norwood of Athens, TN and Jeremy Thurman of Rockwood, TN will bring their race cars to Victory Lane on the Grandstand side of the track.
Goodman, Norwood and Thurman will meet and greet the fans, and they will come bearing gifts to hand out to the fans as well. Goodman, the Late Model point leader, will be looking for his third straight win this Saturday night in his colorful #24 Charlie’s Used Auto Parts CVR. Norwood and Thurman graduated out of the Developmental Sportsman Division last season.
Norwood is a 17-year-old Junior at McMinn County High School that drives the #757 Exit Realty/Sutton Dental Lab/Suttles Trucking Rocket. Thurman drives the #03d C&W Trucking/Conner’s Duct Cleaning/Susie’s Que GRT “Batmobile” that the kids love to see.
“When you average over 100 race cars for a Weekly Show each Saturday night, it takes a while to get them warmed up in Hot Laps, and then set the field for three of the Divisions through Qualifying,” Mountain View Raceway Communications Director Roby Helm said. “That’s a lot to ask the fans to sit through, so we thought we would try to give them some interaction with the drivers by doing a Fan Zone Meet and Greet each week with a different Division before Intermission.”
