SPRING CITY, TN – Jadon Frame of Winchester, TN drove the Denby’s J&J Merchandise Capital Race Car to a $5,000 victory in the Valvoline Ironman Super Late Model Series June Jam on Saturday night at Mountain View Raceway. Frame took the lead on lap 34 of the 40-lap race after early race leader Addison Cardwell of Knoxville, TN had a mechanical issue.
Frame then held off “Mr. Excitement” Kyle Courtney of Knoxville, TN for the final six laps to take the win. Courtney had to settle for second in the Orr Brothers Construction Kryptonite, and third went to “Little Sexy” Cody Overton of Evens, GA.
Jesse Lowe of Crossville, TN made a late-race charge on the top shelf of the ¼-mile high-banked clay oval to come from seventh to fourth in the last six laps of the race in the C&C Auto Mastersbilt. Christian Hanger of Winchester, TN was fifth and Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY was the Hard Charger of the Race after starting 15th and finishing sixth.
In preliminary action, Frame was the Fast Qualifier among the 29 Entrants with a around Mountain View Raceway in 12.170 seconds. The eight-lap Last Chance Qualifying Race was won by Tim Damron of Oneida, TN.
The Limited/CT525/Spec Engine $200 Bonus was won by Courtney, and $100 Bonuses were pocketed by Lowe and Colton Profitt of Crossville, TN, who finished eighth in the Wyatt Builders Capital Race Car. Sylvan Schuette of Blairsville, GA finished 11th to pick up the $100 Bonus for the top finishing car powered by a Chevrolet Performance 604 Engine in his Fast Fab Set Up and Design Train Race Car.
Cardwell took the lead at the drop of the green flag followed by Frame, Courtney, Barry Goodman of Spring City, TN in the Charlie’s Used Auto Parts CVR, and Overton. The three-time Mountain View Raceway Late Model Champion Goodman began to drop back in the early going, as Overton moved up to fourth on lap three, and Hanger moved into to the top five on lap five.
A pair of cautions on lap 22 and 25 bunched up the pack for the second half of the race. The leaders caught lapped traffic on lap 33, and that’s when business picked to change the complexion of the race. As Cardwell went into turn one on lap 34, his Jake Miller Excavating Longhorn suddenly slowed, and Frame got into the back of the leader and sent him spinning into the infield.
Cardwell was quick to point out after the race, the contact between him and Frame was not intentional because he slowed due to a broken axle. Cardwell was out of the race after leading the first 33 laps of the race, and Frame assumed the lead for the restart,
When the green bulb lit up to signal the resumption of racing, Frame, Courtney and Overton began to pull away from Hanger in the fourth spot. Lowe, who restarted seventh, climbed up into the moist top groove of the Mountain View Raceway high banks and proceeded to put on a show for the fans.
Lowe sailed around the outside of Heath Hindman of Signal Mountain, TN, Chilton, and Hanger to move into the fourth spot by lap 38. He was closing in on Overton for third on the last lap, but ran out of circuits to challenge for the podium.
