JULY 4TH HOLIDAY WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS AT MOUNTAIN VIEW RACEWAY


SPRING CITY, TN – The July 4th Holiday Weekend will be a big one at Mountain View Raceway with the $3,096-to-win Inaugural Sam Williams Memorial 40 for the Sportsman Division on Saturday night, plus racing in five other Weekly Racing Divisions, a Kid’s Patriotic Art Contest, and a Huge Fireworks Spectacular.


The Inaugural Sam Williams Memorial 40 will honor the late Sam Williams of Crossville, TN, a late model competitor for many years in East Tennessee, who recently passed away. The #96 race car that Williams drove will be on display early in the evening in Mountain View Raceway’s Victory Lane.


The #96 Sam Williams Race Car will be driven around the ¼-mile high-banked clay ovel for a ceremonial lap by Sam Williams’ brother Rick Williams, who will also carry the American Flag during the singing of the National Anthem. The Sam Williams Memorial 40 in addition to its $3,096-to-win top prize, will also have several Contingency Awards for drivers expected from four states.


PPM Race Products will award $100 to the Fastest Qualifier. B&R Kustoms of Crossville, TN will sponsor the $100-to-win Quick 6 Dash for the six fastest qualifiers for the Sam Williams Memorial 40. DeSaix Transport of Crossville, TN will award the 5th-Place finisher in the race with a drum of E85 Racing Fuel.


American Racer Tires will award two tires the Hard Charger of the Sam Williams Memorial 40 which is the driver that improves his position the most from his assigned starting position to where they finish. American Racer Tires will also award the winners of the two B-Main Races with a $50 Gift Certificate. Motorsports Promotions will award $50 to the Sportsman driver that tows the furthest for the Sam Williams Memorial 40.


David Doss of Cleveland, TN in the Levi Racing Rocket is the Mountain View Raceway Sportsman Division points leader going into Saturday night’s Sam Williams Memorial 40 with 482 points. Joe Bray of New Tazewell, TN is second in the standings with 428 points driving the Bray Roofing Rocket and Bradley Goodman of Spring City, TN is third with 412 points in the Goody’s Power Sweeping Rocket.


Tyler Dennis of Dayton, TN driving the Dennis Racing Special is fourth in the Sportsman standings with 378 points, and Donnie Van Winkle of Soddy Daisy, TN is fifth with 346 points in the S&H Tennessee Roofing and Construction GRT.


Matt Steward of Hixson, TN warmed up for the Sam Williams Memorial 40 with a Sportsman Division win last Saturday night driving the Steward Racing Special, and Hayden Ownbey of Cleveland, TN has three wins at Mountain View Raceway this season in the Ownbey Racing Special.


The Sportsman and Late Model Divisions will not compete for points this Saturday night, so several Late Model competitors are also expected for the $3,096-to-win Sam Williams Memorial 40. The defending Mountain View Raceway Late Model Champion Barry Goodman of Spring City, TN is the Late Model point leader with 422 points driving the Charlie’s Used Auto Parts CVR.


Christopher Peak of Evensville, TN is second in the Late Model standings with 364 points in the BS Welding Mastersbilt and Sean Truelove of Cleveland, TN is third in the Levi Racing Rocket with 288 points. Josh Collins of Knoxville, TN driving the Knoxville Diesel Rocket is fourth with 272 points, and John Ownbey of Cleveland, TN is fifth with 248 points and four wins on the season in the Orr Brothers Construction Kryptonite.


In addition to the Sportsman and Late Model Divisions competing this Saturday night at Mountain View Raceway, the Open-Wheel Modified, B-Hobby, Thunder, and Front-Wheel-Drive Divisions will also be in action this Saturday night.


Billy Palmer of Knoxville, TN driving the Mighty Muffler & Brakes Tinch Race Car leads the Open-Wheel Modified Division standings with 474 points. Travis Sietsema of Crossville, TN is second with 418 points in the Tee’s Home Improvement LG2, and David Lester of Rockwood, TN is third in the Cadillac Grill Loose Griff with 358 points.


The point leader in the Thunder Division continues to be Johnny Hughes of Graysville, TN driving the Hughes Racing Monte Carlo with 606 points. David Beeler of Sevierville, TN is second with 510 points in the Kodak Tractor Camaro, and Jim Gilbert of Rossville, GA driving the Rat Rod Chevelle is third with 506 points.


Clayton Forsyth of Crossville, TN is the Thunder Division point leader with 530 points driving the Forsyth Motorsports Chevelle. Bobby Davenport of Crossville, TN in the Davenport Racing Special is second with 510 points, and Cody Satterfield of Knoxville, TN is third with 460 points.


Nathan Adams of Crossville, TN leads the Front-Wheel-Drive Division standings with 584 points in the Adams Racing Special. Nick Adams of Crossville, TN driving the Grave Digger HHR Chevrolet is second with 576 points Jacob Sharp of Crossville, TN is third with 520 points driving the Sharp Race Cars Chevrolet.


The skies over Mountain View Raceway will light up this Saturday night with a huge Fireworks Spectacular to honor America’s Birthday. The Mountain View Raceway Kids Club will have a special activity for the July 4th Weekend with a Patriotic Art Contest. On Saturday at Mountain View Raceway, the Pit Gate opens at 3 p.m., and the Grandstand/Tier Parking Gates opens at 4 p.m. Pre-Race Technical Inspection and Registration will be from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and the Drivers Meeting is set for 5:45 p.m., with Racing scheduled for 6 p.m.


Pit Passes are $30 for Adults, $15 for Children 6-11, and Children 5 and under are admitted Free. The General Admission and Tier Parking ticket prices are $10 for race fans 12 and older, Children 6-11 are $5. and Children 5 and under are admitted Free. All Children must be accompanied by an Adult.
