SPRING CITY, TN – As a Special Salute to the 20th Anniversary of 9/11, Mountain View Raceway will give Free Grandstand Admission to Active Duty Military, Veterans and First Responders with proper I.D. this Saturday night. They will witness a full racing program on the ¼-mile high-banked clay oval.
The Late Model, Sportsman, Beginner Sportsman, Open-Wheel Modified, B-Hobby, Thunder, and Front-Wheel-Drive Divisions will be in action with Weekly Point Races. Along with the racing action, the youngsters will also be a part of the festivities this Saturday night at Mountain View Raceway.
The Kids Club will present a Special Opening Ceremony to salute the Fallen 13 in Afghanistan, and those that lost their lives 20 years ago in New York City, Washington DC, and Shanksville, PA. Junior Front-Wheel-Drive Division for kids 15 years of age and younger will be the first Main Event of the evening.
The defending Late Model Champion Barry Goodman of Spring City, TN leads the standings in quest of his second straight title with 708 points in the Charlie’s Used Auto Parts CVR. Christopher Peak of Evensville, TN driving the BS Welding Mastersbilt is second in the standings with 530 points.
Tommy Miller of Soddy Daisy, TN has moved up to third in the Late Model standings with 392 points in the Miller Racing Mastersbilt. Josh Collins of Knoxville, TN is fourth with 372 points in the Knoxville Diesel Rocket, and John Ownbey of Cleveland, TN is fifth with 330 points driving the Orr Brothers Construction Kryptonite.
Joe Bray of New Tazewell, TN in the Bray Roofing Rocket is the Sportsman point leader with 688 points. Bradley Goodman of Spring City, TN is second with 666 points in the Goody’s Power Sweeping Rocket and Tyler Dennis of Dayton, TN is third with 614 points driving the First Farmers Bank Rocket.
David Peak of Evensville, TN leads the Beginner Sportsman standings with 892 points driving the BS Welding Rayburn. Jeremy Thurman of Rockwood, TN in the Addison’s Complete Auto Repair GRT is second with 750 points and Christian James of Soddy Daisy, TN is third with 712 points in the Morgan Septic Service Rayburn.
Billy Palmer of Knoxville, TN is on top of the Open-Wheel Modified standings with 770 points in the Mighty Muffler and Brakes Tinch. David Lester of Rockwood, TN is second driving the Cadillac Grill Loose Griff with 582 points and Walter Walsh of Claxton, TN driving the Walsh Racing Special is third with 566 points.
Johnny Hughes of Graysville, TN is the B-Hobby Division point leader with 848 points in the Hughes Farms Monte Carlo. Jim Gilbert of Rossville, GA driving the Rat Rod Chevelle is second with 824 points and David Beeler of Sevierville, TN is third with 732 points in the Kodak Tractor Camaro.
Clayton Forsyth of Crossville, TN leads the Thunder Division standings with 860 points in the Forsyth Motorsports Chevelle. Chris Williams of Soddy Daisy, TN in the Anneke Wilkey Monte Carlo is second with 806 points and Bobby Davenport of Crossville, TN is third with 786 points driving the Davenport Racing Special.
The Adams Brothers of Crossville, TN hold the top two spots in the Front-Wheel-Drive Division driving their Adams Racing Specials. Nick Adams leads the standings with 790 points and Nathan Adams is second with 758 points. Jacob Sharp of Crossville, TN is third driving the Sharp Race Cars Chevrolet with 662 points.
The Mountain View Raceway Cruisin’ Kids Club will participate in a Special Patriotic Parade at Intermission, as they show they understand what happened to our country 20 years ago. They will decorate themselves, their bikes, and their wagons in Red, White, and Blue, plus lap the track carrying an American Flag.
There will also be 13 Race Cars taking a ceremonial lap during Intermission to salute the 13 Armed Service Members that gave their lives unselfishly and unafraid for our Freedom recently in Afghanistan.
This Saturday, the Pit Gate opens at 3 p.m. and the Grandstand/Tier Parking Gates open at 4 p.m. Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Drivers Registering after 6 p.m. will start at the rear of a Heat Race or get one lap of Qualifying. The Drivers Meeting is set for 6:15 p.m.
Pit Passes are $25 for Adults, $15 for Children 6-11, and Children 5 and under are admitted Free. The General Admission and Tier Parking ticket prices are $10 for race fans 12 and older, Children 6-11 are $5. and Children 5 and under are admitted Free. All Children must be accompanied by an Adult. Military Personnel, Veterans, and First Responders will receive Free Admission to the Grandstand with proper Identification.
