SPRING CITY, TN – John Ownbey of Cleveland, TN drove the Orr Brothers Construction Kryptonite to his second straight Late Model win at Mountain View Raceway on Saturday night in the 25-lap main event. Mother Nature watered a perfect race track and 131 cars rolled through the pit gate as the rain gave way to sunny skies,
Ownbey started out his evening by setting Fast Time honors among the 14 entrants with a lap around the ¼-mile high-banked clay oval in 10.526 seconds. That earned Ownbey the pole position for the main event. Ownbey took the checkered flag with a 1.532 second margin of victory over Eddie King Jr. of Knoxville, TN in the Kitt’s Paint and Body Shop Longhorn.
Josh Collins of Knoxville, TN finished third in the Knoxville Diesel Rocket and defending Mountain View Raceway Late Model Champion Barry Goodman of Spring City, TN took the fourth spot in the Charlie’s Used Auto Parts CVR. Aaron Guinn of Russellville, TN drove the Mahle Motorsports CVR to a fifth-place finish and Josh Walker of Ringgold, GA was sixth in the Walker Racing Special.
Brad Lowe of Knoxville, TN finished seventh in the Rowdy Bear Ridge Adventure Park Rocket, and Austin Breedlove of Crossville, TN was eighth in the Breedlove Racing Special. Ruben Mayfield of Lenoir City, TN took the ninth spot in the RM Trucking Stinger, and Jason Manley of Loudon, TN rounded out the top ten in the Manley Racing Special.
Jody Sparks of Brooklet, GA won the Jim Carico Memorial 25 for the Sharp Mini Late Models in the Bluffton Plumbing Company Special. Sparks swept the special event for the Sharp Mini Late Models by setting fast time and winning the Warrior 1G Race Cars Quick 6 Dash For Cash.
Addison Cardwell of Knoxville, TN drove the Shorty’s Motorsports PPM to his second straight win in the 20-lap Sportsman main event. The two 20-lap Beginner Sportsman main events were won by Tyler Jolley of Spring City, TN in the Jolley Racing Special and Seth Jolley of Spring City, TN in the Jolley Racing Special.
Robby Reagan of Crossville, TN won the 20-lap Open-Wheel Modified feature race in the Jackson Outdoors Lightning, and Cody Satterfield of Knoxville, TN drove the Satterfield Racing Monte Carlo to the win in the 20-lap Thunder feature race.
The pair of 15-lap Front-Wheel-Drive Feature Races were won by Isiah Duncan of Cofield, TN in the Duncan Racing Special, and Cory Rector of Crossville, TN driving the Rector Racing Special. Charles Dunlap of Clinton, TN won the 20-lap Dwarf main event in the Dunlap Racing Special and the 10-lap B-Hobby feature race was won by Cody Moffitt of Sweetwater, TN in the Moffitt Racing Special.
Mountain View Raceway will take next Saturday off, and return to action on Saturday night, April 24 with the $5,000-to-win Spring Nationals Super Late Model Race. There will also be point races for Mountain View Raceway Weekly Divisions that will be announced in the coming days.
