SPRING CITY, TN – Mountain View Raceway presents a Regular Weekly Points Race for the Late Model, Sportsman, Beginner Sportsman, Open-Wheel Modified, B-Hobby, Thunder and Front-Wheel-Drive Divisions. The Junior Front-Wheel-Drive Division will also be in action during Intermission.
The Junior Front-Wheel-Drive Division is for kids 15 years of age and younger and Guy Ingham of Athens, TN has been named the Race Director for the Division. Ingham, a U.S. Army Veteran, will teach the kids how to race the right way and the safe way.
Ingham is very familiar teaching kids how to race, as his 14-year-old son Nate Ingham of Athens, TN has been competing in the regular Front-Wheel-Drive Division this season at Mountain View Raceway. Nate won his first Front-Wheel-Drive Division feature race win on July 31 driving the Ingham Racing Honda, and he is sixth in the season point standings.
The Junior Front-Wheel-Drive Division will compete in a controlled ten-lap race using a Pace Car, which will be another Front-Wheel-Drive race car driven by a veteran driver. The youngsters will be instructed to not pass the Pace Car. The Pace Car will increase speed the faster the kids can go in a safe manner.
The Junior race cars are built under the same rules as the regular Front-Wheel-Drive race cars with an emphasis on safety. The Junior drivers will wear fire retardant uniforms, with the latest design of safety helmets. The Junior drivers are also strapped into a full-containment safety seat with a five point safety harness.
The defending Late Model Champion Barry Goodman of Spring City, TN leads the Late Model standings with 558 points in quest of his second straight title driving the Charlie’s Used Auto Parts CVR. Christopher Peak of Evensville, TN is second driving the BS Welding Mastersbilt with 448 points, and Josh Collins of Knoxville, TN is third with 372 points driving the Knoxville Diesel Rocket. Collins picked up the Feature Race win on July 31.
Joe Bray of New Tazewell, TN leads the Sportsman standings with 572 points driving the Bray Roofing Rocket. Bradley Goodman of Spring City, TN has the second spot with 530 points driving the Goody’s Power Sweeping Rocket and Tyler Dennis of Dayton, TN is third with 500 points in the Dennis Racing Special.
The Beginner Sportsman Division standings is led by David Peak of Evensville, TN driving the BS Welding Rayburn with 704 points. Jeremy Thurman of Rockwood, TN is second in the standings with 630 points in the Addison’s Complete Auto Repair GRT and third is Tyler Loden of Spring City, TN in the Lashes and Waxing By Paige GRT with 614 points,
Billy Palmer of Knoxville, TN leads the Open-Wheel Modified Division standings with 602 points driving the Mighty Muffler and Brakes Tinch and Travis Sietsema of Crossville, TN is second driving the Tee’s Home Improvement LG2 with 464 points, David Lester of Rockwood, TN is third with 454 points in the Cadillac Grill Loose Griff.
The B-Hobby Division Championship battled has tightened up between Johnny Hughes of Graysville, TN and Jim Gilbert of Rossville, GA. Hughes leads the standings with 656 points in the Hughes Racing Monte Carlo and Gilbert, the July 31 race winner, is second with 650 points in the Rat Rod Chevelle. David Beeler of Sevierville, TN is third with 584 points driving the Kodak Tractor Camaro.
Clayton Forsyth of Crossville, TN in the Forsyth Motorsports Chevelle is the Thunder Division point leader with 710 points, Bobby Davenport of Crossville, TN is second with 630 points in the Davenport Racing Monte Carlo and Chris Williams of Soddy Daisy, TN is third in the Anneke Wilkey Monte Carlo. Williams took the Thunder win on July 31.
The Adams Brother of Crossville, TN are still one-two in the Front-Wheel-Drive point standings. Nathan Adams leads with 676 points in the Adams Racing Special, and Nick Adams is second with 652 points in the Adams Racing Special. Jacob Sharp of Crossville, TN is third with 554 points in the Sharp Race Cars Chevrolet.
This Saturday, the Pit Gate opens at 3 p.m. and the Grandstand/Tier Parking Gates open at 4 p.m. Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Drivers Registering after 6 p.m. will start at the rear of a Heat Race or get one lap of Qualifying. The Drivers Meeting is set for 6:15 p.m.
Pit Passes are $25 for Adults, $15 for Children 6-11, and Children 5 and under are admitted Free. The General Admission and Tier Parking ticket prices are $10 for race fans 12 and older, Children 6-11 are $5. and Children 5 and under are admitted Free. All Children must be accompanied by an Adult.
