SPRING CITY, TN – This Saturday night, Mountain View Raceway presents the $1,000-to-win $75-to-start Front-Wheel-Drive Special Event, plus five Weekly Divisions and the Shaps Mini Late Models in action on the ¼-mile high-banked clay oval. The Front-Wheel-Drive Special was rescheduled from last Saturday night due to inclement weather.
Dustin Dunkin of Chattanooga, TN warmed up for the Big Show by winning his second Front-Wheel Drive Feature Race of the season last Saturday night driving the Lashes and Waxing By Paige Special. There were 30 Front-Wheel-Drive cars in the Mountain View Raceway pit area last Saturday night tuning up for this Saturday night’s $1,000-to-win Special Race.
Other drivers that will be looking for the top prize Saturday night that also have Front-Wheel-Drive wins at Mountain View Raceway this season include Crossville, TN drivers Cody Rector, Dusty Branstetter, and Colton Proffitt. Top five drivers in the point standings expected include Decatur, TN drivers Jack Gresham and Josh Scealf.
The Front-Wheel-Drive competitors will Hot Lap Qualify, which means that they will be on clock the first time they hit the track this Saturday night. The top ten qualifiers will transfer to the main event. After qualifying, the fast qualifier will draw one of four numbers out of a hat. The numbers four, six, eight, or ten will determine the field inversion for the main event.
Drivers that qualify 11th on back will compete in one of two B-Main races where the top four finishers in each race will fill in the 11th through 18th starting spots for the 40-lap main event. There will then be a Non-Qualifiers Race for the drivers that finished fifth on back in the B-Main races.
The top two finishing positions in the Non-Qualifiers Race pay $100 and $75 respectively. Those two drivers have the option to keep the money and call it a night, or they can forfeit the money and start 19th and 20th in the $1,000-to-win Big Show.
